Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you fill out an estimate or contact form, call us or email us, you may give us:

• Your name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Moving-from and moving-to addresses or ZIP codes
• Move details, such as your move date, move type, home size, whether you need packing, special items and any notes you add
• Anything else you choose to share in a call, email or message

Please don't send us sensitive information we haven't asked for, such as payment card numbers, Social Security numbers or health details, through the Site's forms.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

• Device and browser information, such as browser type, operating system and screen size
• Your IP address and general location (city or region, not your exact location)
• Pages you visit, how long you stay, the page or ad that sent you to us, and links or buttons you click
• Cookie and similar identifiers (see "Cookies and Analytics" below)

Call tracking information

We may use call tracking to understand which pages, ads or marketing channels lead people to call us. When you call a phone number shown on the Site, our call tracking provider may record details such as your phone number, the date, time and length of the call, and the page or source that showed you the number. Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes. If a call is recorded, you'll hear a notice at the start of the call.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Prepare and send your moving estimate
• Contact you about your move by phone, text or email
• Schedule, plan and carry out your move, including building paperwork such as elevator bookings or certificates of insurance
• Answer your questions and handle complaints or claims
• Understand how people use the Site so we can improve it
• Measure which ads and marketing channels work
• Protect the Site and our business from fraud, spam and misuse
• Meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about your estimate or move. We won't send you marketing text messages unless you agree to receive them, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop texts.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them, along with similar tools such as pixels and scripts, to:

• Keep the Site working properly
• Count visits and see which pages are useful, using analytics tools
• Show the right tracking phone number for call tracking

Analytics and advertising providers may collect information about your visit and use it under their own privacy policies.

Your choices: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also let you turn on "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals. Blocking cookies won't stop you from using the Site or requesting an estimate, though some features may not work as expected. For Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How We Share Your Information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:

• Form processor: Our estimate and contact forms are handled by a third-party form service that receives and stores your submission and delivers it to us.
• Service providers: Companies that help us run the business, such as website hosting, email, analytics, call tracking, scheduling and customer communication tools. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
• Marketing and lead partners: If you reached us through a marketing or lead partner, that partner may receive information about your inquiry so referrals can be tracked. See our Referral & Marketing Disclosure.
• Buildings and property managers: When needed for your move, such as booking an elevator or providing a certificate of insurance, we may share your name, address and move date with your building or HOA.
• Legal reasons: If required by law, court order or government request, or to protect our rights, customers, staff or the public.
• Business changes: If our business is sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who must follow this policy.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

• Estimate requests that don't become a move: only as long as needed, so we can follow up or help if you contact us again
• Customer records for completed moves: for as long as needed for claims, accounting, tax and legal purposes, only as long as needed
• Analytics and call tracking data: according to the retention settings of those tools

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections on the Site and limited access to customer records. No website or system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a data breach that affects you, we'll notify you as required by law.

Your Privacy Rights

You can contact us at any time to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct information that's wrong or out of date
• Delete your personal information, unless we need to keep it for legal or business reasons
• Get a copy of your information in a portable format
• Opt out of marketing messages, targeted advertising, any sale of personal data or profiling

Virginia residents

Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) gives Virginia residents rights over their personal data, including the rights to confirm whether a business processes their data, and to access, correct, delete and get a copy of it, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data and certain profiling. The law applies to businesses that meet certain thresholds. Whether or not those thresholds apply to us, we're glad to honor these requests from any customer.

How to make a request: Email dynamic@metrodcmovers.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us what you'd like us to do. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We'll respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, we'll explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll respond to appeals within 60 days. If you're not satisfied with the outcome of an appeal, you can contact the Virginia Office of the Attorney General.

We won't treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

Children's Privacy

The Site is meant for adults planning a move. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Links to Other Websites

The Site may link to other websites, such as maps, review sites or social media. We aren't responsible for how those sites handle your information. Please read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we may also post a notice on the Site.
